We want to extend a heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Hecker and the National Honor Society students for their outstanding coordination and execution of the Shop with an Oly event this past Saturday! The numerous meetings, late-night decorating sessions, and attention to every small detail have not gone unnoticed. Gateway and the Aurora community are truly grateful for your dedication and hard work!
There are many moving parts to host this large event so I also want to thank the following:
- Our donors! We couldn't have done it without their generosity and support.
- Students, club sponsors and coaches. Thank you for fundraising and creating teams!
- Alysa Weiss who helped coordinate and provide her expertise on the event.
- Our GHS staff volunteers: Kim Muller, Leland Tulper, Dr. Tanner, Terry Bonewell, Scott Aiges, Catherine Comb, Cienna Harrison & husband, Jon Justis and family, Valeria Simental Alaniz, Paula Weder, Jerry Weder, Marie Valencia and the admin team!
- Paula and Jerry Weder for being the BEST Mr. and Mrs. Clause.
- Ronan McNeal for being the BEST Grinch.
- Marie Valencia for supporting the finances for this event! It is not an easy task with teams, donations and expenses! Thank you!
- The Family Liaisons and Principals at all APS elementary schools.
- Our custodians for helping us with all of our event needs!
- Paul and Evelyn who coordinated transportation.
- Felicia and Marilyn who helped keep us organized and made calls to elementary students' families.
- Paula Weder's freshman seminar class who created a food drive and put together 50 food bags for the families who participated. Also, thanks to them for volunteering to decorate!
- Our bus drivers who got our families to and from Target safely.
- Target on Alameda for working with us and continuing to be our community partner for SWAO.
- Everyone else who helped make this day successful, thank you.
We are so glad we were able to continue the tradition and give back to our community. Until next year :)
